The AHSNs act as system-wide integrators to promote health improvement in the regions they serve. This means acting locally to support our NHS organisations and systems to tackle issues that can only be solved through collaborative working.
Within the North East and North Cumbria our aim is to deliver a step change in the way healthcare providers and commissioners work together to understand the local priorities and address these through identification, adoption and spread of best practice and innovation.
The AHSN NENC is that crucial, neutral space where practitioners can come together to work across organisational or sectoral boundaries. We remain the only forum in the region that includes expertise and commitment from all the NHS Trusts, CCGs , Universities and industry.
Our collaborative working with the other 14 AHSNs nationally allows us to source proven approaches and innovations so that they can be available here. We also contribute similar exemplar innovations and local improvement successes to the national effort.
Our clinical and cross-cutting programmes of work (listed below) bring together expert practitioners, opinion leaders, patient groups and pharma colleagues to deliver demonstrable improvements in pathways and outcomes. Due to the hard work of our programme leads and careful overall project management there is impressive buy-in to our programmes.
