Medicines Safety Improvement Programme

Tracy is a registered Pharmacy Technician and started working for the AHSN NENC in January 2021 as a Project Lead for Medicines Safety. She is responsible, in collaboration with the other members of the Medicines Safety Team, for the management and successful delivery of projects within the Medicines Safety Improvement Programme (MedSIP)

Tracy previously worked for the NHS for 28 years. During this time, she had varying roles; most recently supporting the Medicines Safety Officer to lead on the Trust wide development, implementation and monitoring of quality, safety and governance issues related to the use of medicines.

One of Tracy’s career highlights was when she worked as Lead Pharmacy Technician for Medicines Management / Intermediate Care. This post provided seamless medicines management to patients across different healthcare settings and included the promotion of self-administration of medicines and reduction of medication errors. As a result of this work Tracy was awarded the winner of the AAH Technician of the Year award (Clinical) 2005 for ‘Improving client care and reducing medication errors in an Intermediate Care setting’ and presented a poster at the American Society of Health Systems Pharmacists annual conference in Las Vegas.
