Bright Ideas in Health Awards

The AHSN NENC is proud to host an annual awards ceremony to celebrate innovation in healthcare across the North East and North Cumbria.

Due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have taken the decision to cancel this year’s Bright Ideas in Health Awards, which was due to take place in November.  It’s with great sadness that we decided to take this step but, given the current climate, we feel it is the right one. We would usually launch the awards in May and begin calling for entries from individuals and teams working across the region’s healthcare landscape. However, right now it’s important to keep people safe and to allow the region’s excellent NHS and social care staff to do what they do best – caring for those who need it most.

We will be launching the 2021 Awards in May 2021…

The Bright Ideas in Health Awards celebrates the achievements of individuals and teams working within the NHS, industry and academia, who have risen to the challenge of telling us how, and where, they believe that the services provided to patients can be improved, either through a technical innovation or through better service delivery.

Everyone can play a part in developing innovative solutions to the healthcare challenges that we face every day. The competition, depending upon the category, is open to all SMEs, NHS organisations and academic institutions in the North East of England and North Cumbria.

Like many of the organisations we work with, the AHSN NENC team is adapting to different methods of working to continue to deliver our offerings, and more, in this current time.

We are currently assisting with calls for various for things such as PPE, securing access to 3D printers and ventilator consumables, to name a few. We’re assisting companies who have solutions or technologies which could benefit the NHS during this time or are changing what they are manufacturing to help with the potential shortages the NHS will potentially encounter.

Any innovators who are currently out there innovating and require assistance with their ideas, we are still here to offer our support. We continue to help teams with intellectual property, developing an evidence base, market research and case studies. Please remember that during these trying times, we can still assist with the innovative ideas which are coming out of our healthcare sector in the North East and North Cumbria.
