Deployment and evaluation of digital solutions

The AHSN NENC, alongside partner and member organisations, will be carrying out an evaluation of the impact of digital technologies deployed across the NHS as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic to assess what went well, what didn’t and areas that could work even better if adjusted.

The COVID-19 pandemic has resulted in significant changes to existing technology and the deployment of new technology in primary, secondary and care home settings to remotely triage, monitor and manage patient groups to ensure that they are safe. In addition, the ability for patients to see the right clinician at the right time has never been more critical and digital technology has enabled this to happen.

The need to evaluate the impact of these digital technologies is vital so that we can assess what the new normal is and where the NHS can most effectively use these new technologies in the future.

The AHSN NENC will work alongside member organisations and closely with the partners and regional working groups such as; NHS England & Improvement Digital Team, North East Commissioning Support, the GP Clinical Response Cell members and the ICS Regional Digital Cell and Yorkshire & Humber AHSN, to assess how best to undertake that evaluation. It is vital that the recommendations are implemented as we move in the ‘recovery phase’ of COVID-19 so we can evolve and mature digitally as a result of rapid deployment of technology into the NHS.
